Ecologies in Practice Conference at Goldsmiths University of London

Speaking at Ecologies in Practice: Education, the Arts and the Earth Crisis

Based on conversations with over 200 activists, artists, scientists, academics and NGOs across 5 continents, Amy has complied six ways that artists can use their creative practices and skills to help the climate crisis. She will share several examples of creatives that are working along the intersection of art and the environment to highlight real-world application of these theoretical concepts. Her work also examines how culture, geographic location, climate impacts, access, environment, and other socioeconomic factors influence the conversations and art practices in the countries that she researched. She hopes to engage in meaningful dialogue with participants to imagine other ways that art can be a tool for social and environmental change.

Amy Spencer Harff is an environmental researcher, writer, artist and Thomas J. Watson research fellow from Rhode Island, USA. She is also a science teacher, Bow Seat Arts Judge, and Peace Boat UN Ocean Decade Youth Ambassador.
